Who Grows Your Food?

The folks at Greenpeace China put together an interesting video about the overuse of pesticides and fertilizers in Chinese agriculture.  While the farmers in the video take measures to protect themselves during and after applications, we can only image what happens at China's over 290 Laogai farms.  Greenpeace China also test fruits and vegetables at markets in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou and found traces of 50 different pesticides, including two banned chemicals.  Hard to imagine that the same produce arrives at American ports with little or no testing - and possibly from Laogai farms.
