A series of explosions occurred outside of a Communist Party building in the northern city of Taiyuan at 7:40 AM Wednesday morning. The explosions killed at least one person and injured another eight.

The bombing comes after a SUV drove into the entrance to the Forbidden City in Beijing last week, killing five people including the driver. Chinese authorities blamed the attack in Beijing on Uigher extremists from the northwest province of Xinjiang.
